It is mandatory for all legal entities, entrepreneurs, and associations that:

import or export goods from the EU;

participate in transit procedures.
Individuals with a business presence in Croatia are exempt from this requirement if they import or export goods for personal use.
How to obtain an EORI number?
The process of obtaining an EORI number is straightforward but involves several steps.
1. Download the application form
The form can be found on the official website of the Customs Administration.
2. Complete the application
Entrepreneurs and individuals not registered in the OIB system must attach a copy of an identification document.
3. Submit the application
The application can be submitted in person at the competent customs office, by email, or by mail.
4. Processing time
Issuance of the number usually takes a few days, so it is recommended to submit the application in advance.
5. Structure of the EORI number
For Croatian legal entities and individuals, the number consists of the prefix HR followed by the OIB.

When is an EORI number required?
Difference between an EORI number and a tax number
The EORI number is often confused with the VAT number (tax number). Although they may have a similar structure, their purposes are different.

VAT number: used for VAT accounting in business transactions with EU member states.
